Visconti Gen2 B58 Valve Cover Upgrade
The Visconti Tuning Gen2 B58 Valve Cover Upgrade is the original engineered fix for the internal PCV failure on BMW Gen2 B58 engines, developed by us and since imitated by others.
Factory Gen2 B58 valve covers integrate the PCV system directly into the plastic valve cover. Under increased boost and higher mileage, boost leaks past the internal diaphragms, causing excessive crankcase pressure, oil smoke, and ultimately a cracked valve cover. When a valve cover fails, you will often see smoke coming from cracks that didn't exist before.
For years, the community's only option was hammering in block-off pins or set screws. That approach doesn't fix the PCV system, it deletes it. A deleted PCV requires running an external catch can, and the engine will show excessive smoke at idle out of the valve cover or catch can. We never recommend deleting the PCV system.
Our upgrade is different. Nothing is hammered into the cover. We install engineered check valves that seal against boost while still allowing vacuum, so your PCV system continues to operate exactly as designed. No external catch can required, no idle smoke, full factory function. This is the same upgrade we run on our 1500WHP builds.
Please note: this upgrade will not fix smoke coming out of the exhaust. Exhaust smoke is typically caused by a turbo failure, turbo oil drain issues, or a damaged engine, and should be diagnosed before ordering.
Which option should you choose?
If you are upgrading preventively and your valve cover is intact, the "Upgrade My Valve Cover" mail-in option is the cost-effective route. If you are trying to fix an existing problem, we strongly recommend the "New Valve Cover with Upgrade" option instead. These covers are plastic, they fatigue over time, and a stressed cover can easily be damaged in shipping.
